Today we're releasing our plan for green jobs and clean energy workforce development in the Los Angeles Community College District.
The idea behind the plan is simple: as federal, state and local investments that will lead to green and clean energy job creation are being planned, the Los Angeles Community College District must prepare to scale its green and clean energy workforce development programs to offer more students – particularly women and people of color – the opportunities to pursue jobs and careers in these emerging fields.
Our plan calls for:
Creating our own Equitable Clean Energy Jobs Program District-wide.
Using Measure CC bond money to invest in the spaces and equipment required for sustainable, green and clean energy workforce development.
Creating green and clean energy career pathways at every campus.
I've included an infographic from a Brookings Institute study on clean energy job creation to illustrate the opportunities that will exist in this sector as it develops.
